Welcome to the Northumbria Ringing Group website!
Founded in 1963, our group is run entirely by volunteers for the purpose of ringing and monitoring bird populations in the Northumberland and Durham areas of the UK.
To date we have ringed over 300,000 birds. On average our 30 members ring in total 7,500 birds each year. Affiliated to the British Trust for Ornithology the group’s data are shared nationally and used to monitor bird population trends, for example breeding success.
