Since 2003 NRG members have ringed Kittiwakes at the purpose built Kittiwake Tower at Saltmeadows beside the River Tyne in Gateshead.  Every Summer, Kittiwake chicks and adults are ringed and measured at the tower with the kind cooperation of Gateshead Council.

Notable Recoveries

• EW21329 Ringed at the tower as a pullus in July 2006. Recorded breeding in Boulogne, France Summer 2011, 2012 and 2013.
• EK20186 Ringed at Baltic Flour Mill Gateshead as a pullus 01/07/1996. Recorded breeding at the tower in the Summer of 2003/2009/2011.
• EK03689 Ringed at Baltic Flour Mill 22/6/1991 breeding at the tower 2004/2006 and 2007.
